Arthur is Handwright Gallery’s elder statesman painter. During the great depression, Arthur’s father moved their family to Lake Mahopac, NY where Arthur developed a passion for hunting and fishing. After serving in WWII and completing his education, he worked as an illustrator for Life Magazine and 29 other publications. He did illustrations for book jackets and corporate annual reports as well as ads for national advertising agencies. He has worked for an extraordinary number of government agencies and major corporations that are recognized as household names. His work in watercolors conveys the beauty of nature, and the thrill of sport enveloped in nature’s arms.
