Lots of good news from our artist James Coe who is featured in the September-October issue of Harvard Magazine. According to the article, after studying ornithology at Harvard, James spent 15 years as a field-guide illustrator before “freeing himself to do the more spontaneous, plein air landscapes for which he is also now known.”  Read the article here.

In addition, his recent work, “Salt Marsh Spring,” (below) is included in the prestigious Birds in Art 2017 show at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, in Wausau, Wisconsin from September 9 – November 26.  If you get to the museum, look for his work along with that of another Handwright Gallery artist, Penny Billings.  If Wisconsin travel is not in your plans, stop in to see their works at our gallery.
