“The pure beauty that exists everywhere in this world goes unnoticed by the average person. My goal is to use the gift I’ve been given to recreate that beauty in such a way as to convince others to open their eyes and take notice.”
Situated in the bonus room above her garage, artist Sue Foell creates paintings inspired by the beauty around her. Her excitement for paintings comes from her desire to capture the life of her subject on canvas. Sue’s paintings contain a masterful sense of light and dark, confident brushstrokes and thick, rich color.
Sue finds inspiration in the way light hits her subject as well as the unique angles and abstract shapes within them. When she paints in the field, she explores the area, searching for a scene where the sun makes the landscape glow and the shadows create interesting patterns. Her figurative work centers on capturing the likeness of her subject, focusing on the character and feel of the person.
